The history of Kadar began approximately fifteen hundred years ago. In his wanderings through the jungle, a powerful nobody named Fel bore witness to something amazing. A massive tower of light had shot forth from the ground, guiding a massive, burning craft down to a relatively soft landing. For reasons he didn’t understand at the time, Fel was drawn to the site. He chased away all curious predators and even used his power to extinguish the flames, a feat he had not previously been aware was possible.

Fel ran inside, desperately searching for the voice calling in his head. He found a small sphere containing a single A.I. unit, formerly in charge of recycling the waste on Deck 3. Fel helped the A.I. as best he could, even managing to repair its voice box. The A.I. called herself Ellinon. She instructed Fel on how to download her into a less damaged body. Together they set about the task of repairing the ship.

The vessel, called the Kadar, was intended as a colony ship. In addition to the extensive cryo-chambers meant to keep colonists in their prime until a suitable planet was found, the ship was designed with great laboratories, factories, a cargo hold packed full of construction equipment, as well as terraforming and bio-forming engines for aiding the colonists in establishing infrastructure. The halls were burnt black but the support structure was intact. Some sealed rooms had been completely untouched. And yet not a single body was found.

Ellinon assumed that the ship must have been attacked, as her people did have enemies, and the crew evacuated. However, most of the weapons damage along the hull seemed superficial at best, almost as though someone wanted the ship to look like it had been in a fire fight. The only areas of extensive damage were in the ship’s memory core where much of the data and samples were kept.

Repairs were slow at first. Ellinon was able to locate and activate drones and other mechanical units, but their A.I. cores had been completely shorted out. They were easy enough to repair, but it meant that they were only common A.I.s, less than Ellinon. She explained that her people had found a way to expand themselves beyond flesh to encompass the realms of digital, spiritual, and places we have no words for, yet still remain the same species. Ellinon, as the only survivor, and thus the highest ranking officer, accessed the part of her programming for emergency upgrades as circumstances demanded. Today, she is Ellinon Kadar, core A.I. of Kadar and mother to all digital beings in her domain.

Fel, much to his own surprise, was remarkably helpful in carrying out repairs. While initially able to do little more than heavy lifting, Fel listened to Ellinon’s instructions and took them to heart. Ellinon observed this phenomenon intently, noting that her own people had a remarkable ability to learn, yet Fel was not one of them. She had no idea what sort of creature he was, but it was remarkably similar to her own.

It should go without saying that such a structure appearing out of nowhere as it did would eventually attract attention. Bandits came looking for treasure and were promptly chased away with Fel’s illusions. However, others came in search of refuge from the dangers of the forest. Initially it was only the occasional traveler, then word spread to the nomads. Eventually, entire villages migrated beneath Kadar’s shadow. Alas, the lands immediately surrounding the vessel were still damaged and would not be able to sustain any kind of population for many years to come.

How convenient it was that at the same time, life support had been restored to the lower decks and preserved food was discovered in the cargo holds. The decks filled quickly as more and more came flocking to the new safe zone. Eventually the doors were also opened to other giants who were pleasantly surprised to find the interior of the ship accommodating to them in most areas. It is important to remember that the fairies of Felarya are not all powerful. Even they have limits. One such limit is that they cannot use their size change magic on anything too big. This is why other giants feel at ease when conversing with fairies. They know that they are safe, at least from being eaten. However, while the Solkane tribe also have their limits, they are significantly more powerful than the common fae. As a result, the giants of the land lived in the same state of eternal fear as the smalls and tinies.

The smaller people were of course fearful of sharing a space with their natural predators, but Fel made sure to lay down the law early. Some giants protested, and even the nekos argued it was only natural for them to hunt tinies. Fel’s response was to demonstrate exactly what he was capable of by beating the strongest of them into submission. He later went on to prove himself in defense against raids from fairies, leading to even the giant races to view him as a hero. Fel was the unquestioned strongest and all new challengers were warned off by their predecessors, who had become Fel’s lieutenants and keepers of the peace.

In time, a community was established with the people offering their services to help maintain their new home, including repair the ship. Construction drones were repurposed to help manage security as the population was growing too rapidly for just one man to handle. A tribe of sphinxes, led by Songraka Goldblade, heard of this remarkable experiment of different races living together in peace and offered their services as keepers of that peace. In time, virtually every race of Felarya would come to find representation at Kadar. And with the integration of dryads into the community, a psychic network was established, forever binding the Kadar as one people.
I know it's been a while since I posted anything. And to be honest, I'm still not sure about this one. This is the first of my much delayed multi-part profile on the nation of Kadar. Any and all constructive criticism would be appreciated.

As usual, all characters belong to me, but Felarya itself belongs to :iconkarbo:
Also, according to the cannon, Felarya fairies really do have a limit on their size change magic which stops them from shrinking giants. Solkane can only get around this for reasons that will be explained in a later part.
